Face Mask recommendations from a MUA
When it comes to flawless makeup, great skin prep is everything. No matter how beautiful the products or how skilled the application, makeup will only ever look as good as the skin underneath it. They’re a little treat for your skin as you prepare for an event. For my bridal clients and event clients, I always suggest using it the night before. Typically for 20 minutes, or up to an hour.
What is a Sheet Mask?
Sheet masks are single-use masks soaked in concentrated serums designed to deeply hydrate and nourish the skin. They sit directly on the face, allowing ingredients to absorb efficiently and evenly - making them perfect for pre-event skin prep when time is limited.
How Sheet Masks Prepare the Skin:
Hydration is key for smooth, long-lasting makeup. Sheet masks help to:
Instantly boost moisture levels
Plump and soften the skin
Calm redness and irritation
When to use a sheet mask:
For makeup: For best results, I recommend using a sheet mask the night before. This is what I tell my bridal clients and my event clients in their preparation notes.
For travel: If you’re traveling on a plane, your skin loses moisture. Use a sheet mask while you’re flying to help retain some moisture. Leave it on for as long as you like.
For redness: If you’ve recently been sunburnt, sheet masks really help bring the heat down and bring some moisture into the skin that was lost. Quick tip - put your sheet mask into the fridge for 15 minutes before you put it on, this is a nice cooling treat for your skin.
